The ancient church was destroyed in 1799 during the war against the troops of the Championnet. Ferdinando IV rebuilt her/it in the year I approach. We know that, in 1700, the church had a great pronao supported by four columns of marble. In front of the church a great plaza extended him shaded by secular trees. It didn't miss a source of fresh water to moderate the heat of the pilgrims that you/they were usually more frequent in the summer months around the days of the Pentecoste. Behind the most greater altar, through a smallport it was accessed a small garden and of here to the marmoreal staircase of the hospital on whose first jaw, by a wall, it was the image of S. Lazzaro I Beg. The believers were accustomed to climb her/it in knee. The hospital was furnished of ample passages, of many beds, of apartments for the physicians and the chaplain or administrator of the Church.
